Progressively removes gamma~glutamyl residues from pteroylpoly~gamma~glutamate to yield pteroyl~alpha~glutamate (folic acid) and free glutamate. May play an important role in the bioavailability of dietary pteroylpolyglutamates and in the metabolism of pteroylpolyglutamates and antifolates. |
